Playing and Exploring & Active Learning

We’ve had another lovely week of learning, exploring and having fun in nursery!

We began the week by heading out into the garden for an exciting bug hunt. The children were eager to search for mini beasts and were delighted to discover butterflies, ladybirds and greenflies. They showed great curiosity, carefully observing the insects and chatting about what they had found, encouraging their understanding of the natural world.

Creating and Thinking Critically

Indoors, we enjoyed making our own playdough before using it for a fun marble run activity. The children helped to measure, mix and pour the ingredients, following each step to create the playdough together. Once it was ready, they used their imagination to mould, roll and shape the dough into tracks, tunnels and walls. They then guided pom-poms through the pathways they had created. This activity supported the children’s fine motor development, hand-eye coordination, problem-solving skills and creativity while encouraging lots of teamwork and conversation.

Outdoor Play

The children have loved spending time exploring the Investigation Hub garden and trying out some of our fantastic new outdoor resources.

The sand area has been particularly popular, with children using buckets and spades to build sandcastles, dig, scoop and work together on their creations. They have also been developing their gross motor skills by confidently climbing over the balance beams and navigating the climbing equipment, showing increasing confidence, balance and coordination while remembering to stay safe and take turns.

We also enjoyed making the most of the lovely weather by having our snack outdoors in the sunshine.

Staffing Updates

• Deborah & Dianne are on annual leave next week.
• Rachel will be on annual leave on Monday 3rd August.

Thank you for your continued support throughout the summer.

As the weather remains warm and UV levels continue to be high, please remember to apply sun cream to your child before they attend nursery, even on cloudy days. If you forget, nursery sun cream is available for you to apply when dropping your child off. ☀️

We would also kindly remind parents to avoid sending toys from home into nursery, unless they are a comfort item needed for sleep or to support your child’s wellbeing.
