The Den:

The children have had a great first week back after the 6 weeks holidays. We are so pleased with how well the children have adapted to nursery life.

Characteristics of effective learning:

The children have really enjoyed our open sand tray this week! We added some metal resources so the children could practice filling and emptying. They used great fine motor skills to grasp the utensils, then enjoyed filling them with sand! We added water to make the sand wet so we could create shapes in the sand the children were very intrigued by this. We used lots of vocabulary like “scoop, pour, sprinkle” and “pat,” which the children copied back.

To extend this further, the children created sand pictures! We encouraged the children to dribble glue onto paper, then sprinkle sand on top. They followed instructions well and copied vocabulary like “dribble, sprinkle” and “glue.

Transition:

Much of this week has been settling in our new children. We are so pleased with how well each child has done this week. To aid transition, could you please send some photos of close family members. These will be used to create family books and be used in the environment.

Staffing updates:

We would like to welcome Chloe to The Den! Chloe works full time has many years of childcare experience!

Anna is on annual leave Thursday

Parents as partners:

We would like to incorporate some photos of the children in our sand area. If you have any photos of your child at the beach, fell free to send them over so we can pit them in the environment.

Hope everyone has a lovely weekend! 😊
