The Nest/The Den
What a lovely week it has been in the Nest and Den with new experiences that have been provided for the children to explore.
Physical Development
The children demonstrated good hand eye coordination by placing the balls and cars onto the ramp as they watched them go down. I said “Ready Steady Go” They said “ Go” as the balls rolled down the ramp. There was some lovely interactions observed between the children with sharing of the objects, smiling and babble sounds. The children spent a considerable amount of time placing the cars and balls onto the ramp repeating this process over and over again
Communication and Language
We explored some crayons and vehicles! The children were so interested and eager to see what was in the tray, quickly coming over to explore with us. They each selected a vehicle which they moved around the tray, watching the marks their movements made on the paper. The children held the crayons in a palmar grasp with good control. They made a range of vocalisations and babbling sounds as they remained focused on this activity for a period of time. They also enjoyed listening and smiling as we sang “The wheels on the bus” and “I’m driving in my car”
Outdoor play
We enjoyed a delightful walk to the community gardens. We observed the vibrant flowers, towering trees, and interesting sticks along our path. We then paused to listen to the sounds around us, taking in the peaceful atmosphere.
After a little play in the garden, we went back inside to investigate the natural objects we had found with some playdough. We placed the playdough on the ground to allow us to all explore alongside each other on a larger scale! Everyone was very keen to come over and get involved using the materials and the playdough.
The children were all so intrigued placing the leaves, sticks and flowers into the playdough in different arrangements, closely observing their movements and the patterns this created in the playdough. Lots of excited babbling noises were heard, with lots of smiles.
The children were all incredibly focused and engaged during this activity for a long period of time, which was lovely to observe!
