The Den:
We hope everyone has enjoyed a long weekend off! We have spent a lot of time in the garden this week where staff and children were able to enjoy the nicer weather together!
Communication and language:
We have filled the tuff tray with sand and added metal resources such as spoons and pots to encourage the children to fill them up increasing the use of their fine motor skills. All the children have really enjoyed this activity, Laney filled one of the metal pots up and used it to build a sandcastle the children were all intrigued by this and laughed as they knocked them down. While doing this activity we have asked the children key questions such as “how does the sand feel?” “Can you fill the pot up using the spoon?” And using words like “pour, pour, pour” to encourage the children to use their communication skills.
We have continued the children’s interest in making marks with different resources this week! We have been making beautiful different coloured marks on the walls and tuff tray in the outdoor environment too.
At group time the children really enjoyed some independence as they choose and prop from the song box then we all sing the nursery rhyme that links to the prop of choice.
Parents as partners:
We ask that all children arrive at nursery with sun cream applied. If you forget we will be asking parents to apply our nursery suncream at drop off.
A reminder that nursery is closed to all children on the 26th of June for a staff training day.
Some of the songs that we having been singing during group time will be linked here so that you can sing them at home with your children!
