The Nest
Welcome back to all our term time children! We hope you have had a lovely half term break.
Characteristics of Effective Learning
The children thoroughly enjoyed their time in the water, using both hands to create large splashes. They used the metal objects to empty and fill, showing good hand eye coordination and fine motor skills. Some of our younger children were banging the metal objects together creating different sounds.
Physical Development
The children placed their hands into the sand, squeezing it tightly to feel the texture. The children held the spoon using their whole hand grasp, and scooped up the sand. They demonstrated good hand control by pouring the sand into the bowl. The children spent a considerable amount of time exploring the sand and metal objects, as they were fully focused in what they were doing. There were some lovely interactions observed between the children with lots of smiling and sharing of the metal objects.
The children have enjoyed exploring all areas of the garden too. They used the hoops by moving them around the ground. They placed the hoops over their heads and were clearly pleased with themselves. The children were crawling/shuffling around the garden independently gaining confidence in knowing their environment.
Parents as partners
Can we ask you apply suncream to your child before coming into nursery, weather permitting. Staff will ask you on the day if your child is wearing suncream when entering nursery. If you have not applied it, you will be asked to apply our nursery suncream on your child before you leave.
If you haven’t already please can we ask for you to sign the sheet, giving permission for staff to apply nursery suncream.
Just a reminder that we are closed on Friday 26th June 2026 for a staff training day.
