The Nest

We are so proud of the children who have started in the nest recently, as they have adapted well to their new environment and formed positive relationships with key familiar staff member.

Characteristics of Effective Learning

It has been a busy week in the nest with children returning after the easter holidays and new children settling.

Communication and Language

The children thoroughly enjoyed exploring the fabric sensory tray. They used their hands to investigate the diverse textures, making various facial expressions that indicated their pleasure. The children spent a significant amount of time pulling the different fabrics over the side of the tray and then carefully returning them.

Physical Development

The children engaged with play dough, natural objects and wooden tools exhibiting fine motor skills. They demonstrated hand control by manipulating the tools within the play dough. Whole hand grasps were used to hold and move the wooden tools, further exploring the play dough. There was lots of concentration coming from the children, as they were fully focussed and engaged in what they were doing.

Staffing Update

You may have noticed some new faces in the room with numbers are increasing. We welcome Esha and Claire who will be working Monday-Wednesday.

Parents as partners:

We can not stress the importance of how children are safe during their sleep at nursery. Following our sleep policy at all times to ensure we are compliant with statutory guidance, and more importantly, that our children are safe.

More information on safer sleep guidance is available from The Lullaby Trust.
