(Investigation Hub and Discovery Hub)
Characteristics of effective learning
This week, some children have continued to explore their interest for minibeasts as they create their own caterpillars by posting small balls down a tube as the exit is blocked which allows the balls to pile up in a large line creating a ‘caterpillar’.
On the other hand, some children’s interest has moved to dinosaurs! They have expressed their interest about dinosaurs by identifying types of dinosaurs from tyrannosaurus rex to velociraptor.
Next week, we will continue to explore these interests by providing a range of activities to help support our love for minibeasts and dinosaurs.🦕 🐛
Physical Development
Both The Investigation hub and Discovery Hub have showcased their physical abilities this week as we look at both fine motor and gross motor skills. They have done this by participating in a range of activities and games. Both age groups have decorated biscuits this week and by doing this it has allowed them to use their fine motor skills to carefully scoop the icing onto the biscuit as well as using their fingers to sprinkle their sprinkles onto the biscuit. 🍪
Again, both age groups have used our balancing beams this week to help support their coordination and core strength as they independently build the balance course and use this together.
The children in The Discovery Hub have also enjoyed mark making on a slightly larger scale. As they hold the pencil, the children move their arms and hands in large movements across the paper. ✏️
Some of our older children in The Investigation Hub and our transitioning children into The Investigation Hub have enjoyed threading this week. Threading supports hand-eye coordination and helps build small muscles within their hands and fingers which then will also support them in other tasks such as drawing, writing and using utensils.

Please make sure you are selecting the correct room at pick up and drop off. Any questions please speak to a member off staff
Both transitioning children into The Investigation Hub and Discovery Hub have been doing so well on their visits this week!
