The Nest
Our focussed song has been “Insy Winsy Spider” 🕷
The children have explored a range of sensory based activities that has supported their love for messy play.
Characteristics of Effective Learning
The children explored the spider sensory tray, using their hands to feel the texture and letting the rice sprinkle from their fingers. They spent a considerable amount of time experimenting, moving the rice around the tray. The chiildren displayed curiosity about the spiders, observing them intently. They showed some lovely interactions towards each other by sharing the spiders and creating babble sounds.
Physical Development
The children were gathered around the sensory form, their small hands exploring its contents. They were curious and walked and crawled closer to observe. They sat down, tentatively reaching their hand in to feel the texture. The children’s fingers grasped and released, squeezing the form within the tray. They found the sensation fascinating as it pressed between their fingers. The children explored the form for short period of time, as they were fully focused in what they were doing.
We have been enjoying sunny weather as spring begins. The children have had a lovely time in exploring the different areas in the garden. They have further developed their gross motor skills, by climbing up and down the stair bridge and peek a boo tower using their whole body to move around them.
Communication and Language
The children listened intently as we read different board books with interactive parts. The children were pointing at different pictures within the books creating different babble sounds. The children sat for a period of time where they were engaged in looking at the different pictures.
Small group times are important for babies as it supports their early social, emotional and cognitive development. It encourages peer interaction and language skills through shared songs, stories and play. These short sessions improve attention span, introduce routine and fundamental skills like imitation, turn taking and emotional regulation in a safe environment.
World Book Day
Our children in the Nest really love books and with World book Day, their genuine love for books was evident as they enthusiastically explored the diverse collection we offered, enhanced by the accompanying props.
Parent Partnerships
Some of the older children have been down to The Den for their transition visits. We are incredibly proud of how well they have adjusted to their new environment. This smooth transition has been greatly supported by the dedication of both their current and new key workers.
Song of the week will be 5 little Ducks
Have a lovely weekend
