2-3yrs: The Discovery Hub and 3-4yrs: The Investigation Hub.

Active learning:

Despite it being the half term holidays for the majority of our children, it has still been a busy week for the children who attended nursery.

During the week, the children from The Investigation Hub joined the Discovery Hub and together we have looked at and discussed animals. Developing our knowledge and understanding of their appearance, animal sounds and looked at different habitats and where they live. Which has included the sea, jungle, forest and in our homes.

Our focused song for the week has been ‘Walking through the jungle’. The children have explored a range of activities that has supported their physical development, whilst pretending and acting out being animals and moving in different ways and making the sounds. This has linked in with our core book ‘Animal boogie’.

Play and exploring:

The children have been playing and interacting lovely together. Sharing experiences as a whole and in key groups.

The children have been able to listen and follow simple instructions to make play dough, helping to add ingredients and mixing them together before playing with the end product.

Whilst out in the garden, the children have been developing their gross motor skills by using balance beams, climbing structures and playing hide and seek. Showing good control and confidence in maintaining their balance, taking turns and moving in different ways and directions.

The children have had the opportunity to explore clay with tools to manipulate in various ways and created sculptures. The favourite has been birthday cakes, by using pipe cleaners for the candles. πŸŽ‚
