The Nest
Characteristics of Effective Learning
This week has been particularly exciting as we welcomed new children into our nest. Transitioning to a new environment can be a significant experience for young children, filled with both anticipation and perhaps a touch of apprehension. Therefore, we have been supporting and providing comfort and reassurance. It’s heartwarming to observe how quickly these new children have begun to adapt to their surroundings and embrace the opportunities that our nest provides.
Physical Development
The children had a lovely time in exploring the play dough using their hands, feeling the texture by squeezing and patting it. Some children were creating different facial expressions, as they were intrigued with the texture. There was some lovely interactions between the children with lots of sharing and smiling.
Communication and Language
Our focus song has been “Humpty Dumpty”. The children have enjoyed listening to the song using song props, as they were engaged and taking turns holding Humpty Dumpty.
The children were so engrossed in exploring the nursery rhyme jigsaw which played the music to the rhyme. The children showed good control in taking the pieces out further developing their fine motor skills. The children realised when they took the pieces out it played music, they started dancing and clapping their hands.
We are incredibly proud of our children for taking the next step in their development transitioning from the enclosed security of their cots to the relative freedom and openness of floor beds. This transition marks a considerable milestone, signifying increased independence and a growing understanding of their own space and needs. We have been observing them closely, and we’re thrilled to report that they have adjusted remarkably well to this change.
Parent Partnerships
Our focus song is going to be “Waking through the Jungle”
